Sun benches to celebrate friendship between Asiago and Lockport
We are proud to have completed a significant project for the City of Lockport, IL-USA, on the occasion of the twinning between Asiago – Lockport. This project celebrates the friendship between the two cities with the installation of the Sole benches, designed to be durable and environmentally friendly.
Sole benches are made with a galvanized metal frame painted with polyester powder for outdoor use, ensuring strength and durability. The slats of the benches are made of Resysta, an innovative material composed of a mixture of rice husks, common salt and mineral oil. Resysta offers the look and feel of wood, but with superior durability, without contributing to deforestation. These characteristics make Resysta a cutting-edge and highly sustainable material that is perfect for urban furniture projects.
We are thrilled to have contributed to this project and to have used sustainable materials that reflect our commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility.
A cultural union
As part of the redevelopment of the urban area, the municipality of Lockport, Illinois, sister city to the municipality of Asiago, located in the center of the famous mountain plateau, chose our Sole benches to celebrate this union. The Sole benches were personalized with an aluminum plaque bearing the establishment dates of the two towns: Lockport 1830 and Asiago 1310. Lockport is located in the heart of the state of Illinois, about 100 kilometers from Chicago.
It was very interesting to discover that many residents of this Illinois town have surnames of Italian origin. There is, in fact, a strong and active Italian community that wishes to keep ties with its roots alive. Asiago and Lockport have signed a twinning agreement with the goal of bringing together the many families descended from the Asiago Plateau now residing in Lockport. This project will strengthen cultural and historical ties between the communities.
